Urbanics provided an assessment of housing needs for residents of the Slave Lake region as commissioned by the Slave Lake Regional Tri-Council, an organization formed by the combined councils of the Town of Slave Lake, the Sawridge First Nation, and the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. Slave Lake had prospered in recent years and, like other resource driven communities, was experiencing issues with housing availability and affordability. High housing prices, high rents, and low rental vacancies were a topic of great concern for the Tri-Council. Urbanics assembled a thorough inventory of the housing stock and undertook an extensive stakeholder engagement process, including with First Nations, to provide a clear understanding of the area’s housing needs over the next 25 years.
